Create Together: Our Voices, Our hands, Our Lives, has come out of a project to support women from the African Caribbean and Asian communities in the City of Leicester, as they dealt with the stresses of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Leicester is noted for being the City that experienced the longest period of lockdown in the UK.
The results of the project have been astounding. The participants, women from different communities, became one new community. These women found their voices, shared their lives and stories. They used their hands, hearts, and imaginations to create more than they ever thought they possibly could do in six months in the midst of a difficult time. Beauty out of ashes.
Create Together: Our Voices, Our hands, Our Lives, is an anthology offered to all those who took part in the Create Together Project, to recognise the power of who they are, and how much they are able to achieve. It is a glimpse into the journey they’ve taken through art and words.
