Some New Titles coming…

By Sandra Pollock

Don’t let our silence give you the impression that we’re not busy.

Authors have been busier than ever over the past 12 months of social isolation and change. We’re excited to share that we have four new titles coming out in the next couple of months. You’ll be reading books from new and current authors on our list.

The Creatures Creative Collective Series

We have the third in the Creatures Creatives Collective series: Polly, The Pugilist Puffin, written by Bobba Cass with some wonderful and vibrant illustrations by Peter Buckley. Your little ones will thoroughly enjoy this fable and the illustrations. The launch date for this book will be shared with you soon. Here is a sneak peek of the cover.

New Female Authors Anthology

Our parent company Inspiring You CIC has been running a programme to support women living in the City of Leicester. Leicester now has the reputation of having been the UK City held in lockdown for the longest. The six-month programme funded by the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by the National Lottery Community Fund, has been focused on helping to improve the wellbeing of women from the African Caribbean and Asian communities in the city.

Entitled Create Together, the programme introduced the participants to things like Arts and Crafts, Yoga, Exercise, Creative Writing, Mental and Emotional Confidence, and Wellbeing through online workshops, as a means of managing their stress levels.

Our Creative Writing workshops really touched a cored with many of the participants. Many of them found an author deep within they never knew was there. To complete the programme, we’ve put together some of their stories, poems, and some of the images they created in a wonderful anthology. We’re sure you will find these creations touching, heartwarming and inspiring. We can’t wait to be able to share it with you.

Most of these new authors had never considered writing before but have now found that they have a passion for writing. Their voices and stories deserve to be heard. The anthology is entitled Create Together – Our Voices, Our Hands, Our Lives and should be out in the next month.

Other New Books on the Horizon

Other authors of our writing family bringing out their debut poetry books are Sammy Nour and Matt Gopsall, both of whom you may recall have previously submitted great poems to our website. So watch out for their books in the next couple of months.

Yes, we’ve been busy and we hope you have as well. Don’t forget you can submit your work for consideration anytime.

A Message To A Friend

By Sandra Pollock

We’re into another month-long lockdown here in the UK. It started today 5th November 2020. It’s hit some people pretty hard. So we thought we’d find a way of helping us to focus some of that downward energy into something more productive.

So here is your challenge.

If you were going to write a poem or a letter telling a dear friend how they could get through this second lockdown period what would it say?

We could all do with a little encouragement just how. Share your words of creative wisdom. What would you wish to tell a friend?

You can share your work here, below in the comments box or you can join us on our Facebook page ‘A Call To Write’

Personal 30 Day Writing Challenge

By Sandra Pollock

We can all find ourselves a little out of the writing loop at times.  As much as we love writing, the busyness of life can at times take precedence and we loose the time and get out of the practise we once had of regularly writing.

This is where I’ve found myself now, to be honest, so I’ve decided to do something about it.   And wondering if you might want to join me.

I will add, that this is not a competition and you won’t get any prizes for doing this challenge with me.  But you will get, and this is what I’m working to achieve, is back into the practise of writing something each day.  Back into the flow of doing what you love doing.

I have already put a post up on our facebook page ‘Call To Write’ .  You can view it here.  https://www.facebook.com/pg/acalltowrite/posts/?ref=page_internal

We will be using our Facebook page to comment and encourage each other each day.

As I’ve mentioned on that post, you don’t have to share what you write each day, only if you want to.  It’s just about writing something each day.  It may just be  a paragraph or a quote.  It may be that you end up writing something more lengthy.  That doesn’t matter. What does matter is that we write something each day.

So, are you going to join me?  I believe writing is not about perfection, it’s about expression.  And that’s what we here at SanRoo are about encouraging you and ourselves to do.

If your answer is yes, just let me know in the comment box below and join us each day by adding something on the Call To Write Facebook page to share your experience as you progress on writing something each day in our Personal 30 Writing Challenge.

It doesn’t matter what time of day you write something, just as long as it’s before midnight.  If you can also comment on the page before midnight each day, that would be good too.

Who’s in?  We start today.
